Part of Dr. Maxwell (Max) Foran fonds
Series consists of three folders, one of which contains photographs of Foran golfing, a group of identified individuals, and what appears to be Grant MacEwan and his grandsons. One folder contains typescripts of short stories written by Foran (“The Cut Stone”) and his wife, Heather MacEwan Foran (“Topa’s Gift”) that they entered into a short story competition in 1984. Foran would later become an adjudicator for submissions to a Junior Competition for “Write’em Cowboy” when he worked for the Western Heritage Centre in the late 90s.
The last folder consists of handwritten and typescript notes that appear to be from Foran’s contribution to the publication “A Century of Grant MacEwan: Selected Writings,” with entries from MacEwan’s journals of 1927. The folder also consists of a birthday poem for MacEwan (1982) and a sepia print mounted on cardboard showing the construction of the Alberta Legislature. Two dates are written on the back: 1906 and 1911.
