Fonds consists of material related to the experience of James Reid (and to a lesser extent his brother John) while in Canada leading up to WWI, throughout Reid's time of service for the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the war, and then for some years after the war recording Reid's life in Calgary, Alberta.
Fonds is divided into 7 series suggested largely by the enclosing envelopes in which the donation was originally recieved from the estate of Reid's niece. These are:

Fonds consists of records attesting to the naval career and personal life of Kenneth Edward Grant. Collection highlights include: an album of original photography (rehoused) recording life aboard several WWII navy ships and a set of letters sent by Grant to his wife during his time of service both during and after the war. Consists of 11 colour photographs recording the last trooping at Currie Barracks before its closure in 1997. Photographs have no captions.

Fonds consists of material related to the wartime experiences of Angus Lott, from the time of his training through to the period just following the end of WWII. This fonds is notable for its large, well captioned set of aerial photography taken by Lott's crews during the final years of the war. Photographs in this sub-series show the condition of numerous key cities and rural locations in Europe and are well explained by Lott's careful captions. Fonds is divided into three series:

Consists of 14 letters written by Thompson to his sisters during his time of service in WWI. Also includes an excerpt from a trench mortar manual and several notes typed by Thompson later in life contextualizing the letters.

Fonds consists of material related to Whalen's time of service in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1993. Fond is divided into two series:
- Correspondence: letters from this series include Whalen's personal account of his journey to Mostar and Srebrenica, the “hot-spots” of the war.
