Records include administrative correspondence including fundraising and staffing issues, procedures books, and minutes of staff meetings, the Recreation Committee/Activity Therapy Committee and of Day Hospital Committee meetings. The sub-subseries also consists of a “Proposal for the Reorganization of the Allan Administrative System,” a report on “Responses to a Medicare Strike in a Psychiatric Hospital,” a “Patient Statistics Preliminary Report” reviewing discharged patients and a one-year follow-up, and reports on a Management Study for the Allan Memorial Institute.

Records include procedures on administration and admitting, guidelines on psychiatric assessments and electro-convulsive therapy (ECT), and policies on rounds, drugs and the Emergency Department. The subseries also consists of correspondence on the Crisis Clinic, the Family Therapy program, the Group Therapy program, the Methadone Withdrawal Program, and the Young Adult Program. Strategic planning records include retreats, long term planning for the Department of Psychiatry, the Department of Psychiatry’s Five Year Plan, and records on the capital construction project for the extension to psychiatric services in the Support Services Building. The subseries consists of Dr. Lewis’ research into the history of treatment methods models regarding the effects of battle fatigue experienced by military personnel during WWI and WWII. Records include manuscript drafts, notes, correspondence, military reports, and articles on the treatments developed by Canadian psychiatrist Arthur Doyle for the military during WWII in Sicily, Italy.

correspondence with other clinics, and proceedings from a series on the therapeutic community hosted by the Allan Memorial Institute. The subseries also consists of research gathered during visits to other institutions.

The subseries consists of the planning for, and the information gathered during Dr. Lewis’ sabbaticals. The first (1977-1978) involved trips to Europe and New York to research other Affective Disorders Clinics. The second (1984-1985) appears to have been for a follow-up study on Little Men or Lilliputianism. It is unclear if this sabbatical took place.
