Collection consists of material relating to W.O. Mitchell's term as writer-in-residence for Winnipeg School Division No. 1, September 15, 1974 - November 30, 1974. Includes samples of student papers using "Mitchell's messy method of creative writing"; professional materials consisting of videotapes of seminars on creative writing for teachers; presentations for elementary, junior high and senior high students consisting of videotapes of the presentations and questions from the students; audio and video recordings of readings by W.O. Mitchell from his own work; and audio and video recordings of W.O. Mitchell discussing theme and character in several of his own works. Textual records consist of samples of student papers, listing of the audio and video recordings and bibliography of related materials collected in a kit for use by schools in Winnipeg School Division No. 1 as well as two scrapbooks containing articles and photographs documenting W.O. Mitchell's work for the shool division. Also includes material relating to the seventy-fifth convocation of Brandon University, Brandon, Manitoba, held November 9, 1974, at which Paul Hiebert, James Gray and W.O. Mitchell received honorary doctorates, particularly an audio tape of a symposium on creative writing by the three writers moderated by Brandon University chancellor Stanley Knowles, as well as photographs and newsclippings.

Items mounted on mattes and identified with authors' names. Pictures occasionally contain information about the original work of art from which the reproduction was made. Includes several pictures of some authors and holograph notes by unidentified author, commenting on the pictures.

(1892-1899); correspondence, receipt books, and insurance policy of the Sandon Miners’ Union, affiliated with the Western Federation of Miners (1901-1915); journal and payroll sheets of mining operations in Sandon; waybills, share certificates, and mining lease agreement from Quesnel Forks; personal correspondence of James P. Delahunty of Barkerville, B.C.; will of James Francis Ford of 150 Mile House, B.C.; diaries of C. Walverson, western USA; time book of the Whit Grouse Co. (timber company of Quesnel Forks?, 1874); Elizabeth Ann Palmer’s food ration book from the Second World War, Waldo, B.C.; letterbook of the Provincial Police constable, Arrowhead, B.C. (1908-1916); facsimile of the signatures on the Treaty of 1831 which established the independence of Belgium; posters for the Baddeley Bros. 3 Ring Wild Animal Circus; and fragments of circus posters.

The collection consists of 122 black and white photographs with a subject range that covers the Spanish Civil War, the German Air Force, the German invasion of Poland, and the war in Italy. Photos 1-46 are 8x10. Subsequent photos are 5x7.

The collection consists of recorded interviews and interview summaries with pioneers of Waterton Lakes National Park.

The collection consists of approximately 450 short biographies of Metis ancestors and 910 descendancy tables. Most of the individuals charted were born before 1900. The biographies and tables are indexed by surname.
