The fonds includes records relating to Baird’s many writings on architecture, his education at the University of Toronto (1957-1962), his service on associations, and his travels both personal and professional over the years. Records include architectural drawings, office files, photographs, diaries, sketchbooks, presentation panels, models, and audiovisual materials. There are over 500 projects documented in the fonds. The architectural projects span his work at the Sturgess Partnership (1978-1987), Sturgess Architects, Ltd. (1987-1993), and Sturgess Architecture (1993-present). Among the notable projects represented are Banff Town Hall, Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel, Yukon Visitor Reception Centre, Calgary Water Centre, 7th Avenue LRT Masterplan & Station Refurbishment, The Bridges Masterplan/Bridgeland Community Centre/Olive, Connaught Gardens, Alberta Pavilion Expo 86, House on Bowen Island, Naidoo/McLaughlan Residence, Assured Beltline, Spiral House, the Block, Borden Residence, and many others. The records include journals of project hours, correspondence and submissions from draftsmen seeking employment, notes regarding design concepts for projects, and a project portfolio. Also included is a print copy of Mann’s professional website from circa 2015.
Sub-series contains various writings by Richard Hunter from 1963 to 2018. The records include Hieizan: A screenplay in one act by Richard Hunter, a copy of the book Apples Under the Bed: Recollections and Recipes from B.C. Writers and Artists, which contains a section by Richard Hunter, entitled “Three Houses for Daucus Carota”, a small number of letters to the editor by Richard Hunter published in the Times Colonist and the Globe and Mail, as well as Hunter's 'A Dialogue' written in Kyoto in 1963.
