Fonds consists of material related to the experience of James Reid (and to a lesser extent his brother John) while in Canada leading up to WWI, throughout Reid's time of service for the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the war, and then for some years after the war recording Reid's life in Calgary, Alberta.
Fonds is divided into 7 series suggested largely by the enclosing envelopes in which the donation was originally recieved from the estate of Reid's niece. These are:

Material consists of print-based propaganda produced during WWI in Italy. Much of the later dated propaganda in this collection is government or army ("Armata") produced through Italy's "Service P" initiative. Some of the material bears marks of previous ownership by way of the stamped initials, "A.T.".

The collection consists of 1882 order-in-council giving details of ranching leases in the area; Bowness electors' lists (1934, 1935); Wallace's correspondence regarding early ranchers, including Thomas Stone, John Lister Kaye, T.H.B. Cochrane, William Beresford, and others; plans of the Calgary Hydraulic Company's ditch (1894); and extensive newspaper clippings about Bowness (1920-1940).

The fonds consists of incorporation documents and bylaws; minutes, projects files (including photographs), conference proceedings, financial records, and newsletters; albums compiled for Outstanding Unit Competitions, featuring descriptions and photographs of the unit's activities; Buckle-Up-Babe records; and Tracey Jones' files as National President.

Fonds consists of correspondence and minutes of meetings from the 25th Anniversary Committee; Place of Vision book; records, reports and publications from various campus units documenting how they celebrated the 25th Anniversay events with open houses, awards, projects, concerts, tours, displays, performances and demonstrations. Also includes photographs of the October, 1991 Open House and photograph contact sheets of displays from the Archives and Special Collections.

The fonds consists of administrative records of the Calgary Brewing and Malting Company and its successors, Canadian Breweries, Carling O'Keefe, and Molson Breweries, related to licencing, finances, marketing, shareholders, hotel system, union relations, and regulatory bodies. Also consists of financial records, inventories and liquidation papers of Silver Spray Breweries / Big Horn Brewery; and shareholders and financial records of North West Brewing / Bohemian Maid Brewing. Includes records related to sports sponsorships, the Aquarium, Horsemen's Hall of Fame, and the Fish Hatchery.

Includes records of the company's affiliate, Western Provinces Land Company (1925-1969).

Includes records of The Stampede (rodeo events): entry forms, financial records, score sheets, results, correspondence of the Stampede Manager or Arena Director (1912-1950). Includes records of livestock shows and sales, including records of several livestock breeders’ associations: Alberta Livestock Associations (1901-1929), Alberta Cattle Breeders’ Association (1900-1985), Alberta Horse Breeders’ Association (1900-1917), Alberta Sheep Breeders’ Association (1902-1928), Alberta Swine Breeders’ Association (1903-1917), Hunters’ Improvement Association (1909-1921), and Canadian French Coach Horse Breeders’ Association (1910-1924). The Alberta associations used the geographical designation “Territorial” in their names prior to 1905.
