Part of Historical miscellany collection

File consists of partial mimeographed booklet (pages 21-82 of original 112 pages). Half title: Bishop Durien's Chinook Bible History. Chinook Bible History (CBH) was translated into Chinook shorthand by Father LeJeune and published in sections in the Kamloops Wawa in it's entirety the year of Bishop Durieu's death. Similar to the newsletter format, CBH includes English titles with the main text in Chinook shorthand. The author's name is misspelled in CBH as "Bishop Durien." The Old Testament is made up of 87 "Chapters" and appears on pages 1 to 47. The New Testamant consists of 114 Chapters. The Old Testament section begins with an introduction in Chinook shorthand and the publication closes with a brief Phonetic Alphabet. University of Saskatchewan historian Keith Carlson has indicated that some of the original Bible references to species of animals and plants have been replaced with the names local species, apparently to help Northwest Coast and Interior Aboriginal readers relate more closely with the Biblical stories.
