Biographical history

The Office of Communications and Fund Development was established in the Faculty of Medicine prior to 1979. When the Faculty of Medicine was renamed the Cumming School of Medicine in 2014, the Office appears to have been divided into the Department of Communications and Media Relations and the Fund Development Office.

The Department of Communications and Media Relations works alongside researchers, staff and students in conjunction with media news outlets to inform and to educate, connecting with local, national and international audiences to share information about the School.

The role of the Fund Development Office is to raise funds and steward donors on behalf of both the Cumming School of Medicine-specific priorities and the University of Calgary.
