Biographical history

Canadian composer, conductor and educator Warren Keith Bissell was born in Meaford, Ontario, on February 12, 1912. Died in Newmarket, Ontario, on May 9, 1992. Biographical information available in Encyclopedia of music in Canada. 2nd ed., p. 125-126.

Donated by K. Bissell in 1987 and by Karen Evans in 2002.

Fonds consists of business and personal correspondence; manuscripts, ranging from sketches to master scores, of compositions for voice, chorus, orchestra and various chamber ensembles; manuscripts of articles and lectures; programs and newsclippings of articles about concerts featuring K. Bissell's works; published works; sound recordings of works by K. Bissell and others; and videotape of K. Bissell's retirement reception.
