Biographical history

Canadian poet Francis (Frank) Edwin Richmond was born January 12, 1876 in Montreal, Quebec, the oldest son of Edwin Ellis Richmond and Florence Bradford. He was a locomotive engineer for Canadian Pacific Railway and was transferred to Calgary after his marriage to Georgina Hillman Bennett in 1904. He lived at 840 17th Ave. E. until his death August 30, 1931. He is buried in the family plot in Mount Royal Cemetary, Montreal. His only surviving child, Nora Margaret Ann, was born in 1906. She married Merlin Aubrey Goodger-Hill of England in 1927; they had four children, Jetta, Trevor, Nola and Gareth. Frank Richmond wrote poetry and published several poems during his lifetime. He also raised Chesapeake Bay retreivers and trained them for bird shooting and dog trials. He camped along the Bow River and wrote several poems about natural features in the Calgary area.
