ARIEL: A Review of International English Literature is a quarterly journal devoted to the critical and scholarly study of new and established literatures in English around the world in its various manifestations as International English Literature, Postcolonial Literatures, Commonwealth Literature, New Literatures in English, and World Writing in English. Founded in 1970, it is published under the direction of faculty from the Department of English in the Faculty of Humanities (1970-2010) and the Faculty of Arts (since 2010). It receives funding from the federal Social Science and Humanities Research Council, the Special Projects Fund of the University, and the Department of English. The University of Calgary Board of Governors holds copyright to the publication.
Available at ariel.ucalgary.ca are pdfs of all the issues of ARIEL from 1970 to 2011.

Fonds consists of imprint issues of the annual publication ARIEL, minutes of the editorial board, material relating to the transer of ARIEL from the University of Leeds to the University of Calgary, and production files from a special Canadian edition of the journal in 1973 and the 100th issue (25:4), retained as samples of the types of records created by a publishing journal.
