Name of creator
In July and August of 1935 an expedition, sponsored by Harry Snyder of Montreal, was organized to carry out investigations of the musk ox and caribou in the Mackenzie District of the NWT, in particular the area northeast of Great Slave Lake. The main objectives were to survey and photograph the musk ox, to determine if poaching was a threat to the herds, and to secure specimens of caribou and mountain sheep for the American Museum of Natural History and National Museum of Canada. Lt.-Col. H.M. Steel of the Canadian Department of the Interior joined the expedition as a government observer. C.H.D. Clarke was another expedition member. The group travelled, primarily by airplane, from Edmonton to Fort Resolution, Fort Reliance, and finally the Thelon River area.
