History

Lorene Frere and her husband Louis Frere bought the St. Ann Ranch at Trochu, Alberta in 1971 from Louis' grandparents, Martha and Ernest Frere, who had bought the site from Edgar Papillard in 1931. Lorene did research on the history of the ranch and the town of Trochu, initially for a local history book, and later to have the St. Ann Ranch designated as an historic site and to develop the ranch house as a bed and breakfast and teahouse.
