Frederick J. Conn, originally from Ontario, was a school teacher in Carlstadt, Alberta in 1913. He married Violet McKibbon in that same year.

The fonds consists of a transcript of Frederick's diary (1913) and photographs of settlers from Medicine Hat and New Holland, Alberta. The brief entries in the diary relate to the school, leisure activities such as choir, skating, and playing the violin, a summer trip back to Ontario, and his courtship and marriage to Violet McKibbon.
