Biographical history
Frank Hamilton Mewburn, 1858-1929, was born near Niagara Falls, Ontario and trained in medicine at McGill University. He practiced as a physician in Winnipeg, 1882-1885, and then moved to Lethbridge, Alberta. He worked for Galt Mines, Alberta Railway and Irrigation Company, and the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP). He and his wife, Louise Augusta Nelson, had at least four children, F.H. Hastings, 1888-1954, Arthur Fenwick, 1893-1957, Beverly (Robinson), and Helen Clinton, 1890-?.
Hastings Mewburn was born at Lethbridge, studied medicine at McGill, served in the First World War, and established his practice in Edmonton. His wife, Jessie Urquhart Belcher, 1889-1980, was the daughter of Col. Robert Belcher and Margaret McLeod, early residents of Edmonton.
