Administrative history
The Foothills Historical Society was incorporated in 1974, with the objective of publishing a history of the area encompassing Jumping Pound, Brushy Ridge, Pirmez Creek, Springbank and the western outskirts of Calgary. The resulting book, Chaps and Chinooks was launched in 1976, and in 1977 won first prize in Alberta Culture's regional history competition. The society was later involved in other projects, including cemetery rehabilitation and the placing of commemorative plaques. It disbanded in 1981, having accomplished its main purpose.

The fonds consists of certificate of incorporation, minutes, correspondence, and cashbook. Also consists of photographs and drafts of family histories for Chaps and Chinooks, and guest lists and scrapbooks of the book launching.
