Biographical history

Georges Figarol, [ca. 1858-1932], was a notary in Paris, France, and emigrated to Canada in 1899 to ranch near Sylvan Lake, Alberta. His son, Francois, joined him in 1903; and his wife, Lucie, 1863-1952, and daughter, Valentine, 1885-1957, joined him in 1905. By 1910 the family had filed on a number of homesteads. Georges and Francois fought for France in First World War. Valentine married Leon Eckenfelder in 1907 and they had two children, Cecile, 1908-2004, and George.
