Biographical history

The Federated Association of Letter Carriers, a Canadian labour union, was organized in 1891. Branch 14 was chartered in Calgary, Alberta in 1907. In 1966 the union was renamed the Letter Carriers Union of Canada (LCUC) and around the same time Branch 14 became known as Local 14. In 1989 the local ceased to exist as a separate entity when the national union became part of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).

Archival history

The item came into the possession of Alex Reid, who held membership no. 7 in the Branch. It was passed on to his descendants.
