Biographical history

The Faculty of Humanities was established in 1976 when the Faculty of Arts and Sciences was divided into the Faculties of Humanities, Science, and Social Sciences, and the University College. The Faculty was officially inaugurated in February 1978 with Robertson Davies giving the address.
In 2010, the Faculty of Humanities merged with the Faculties of Fine Arts, Communication and Culture, and Social Sciences to form a new ""super faculty,"" the Faculty of Arts.

Fonds consists of records from the Dean's office concerning curriculum coordination and scheduling, program development, curriculum development and review, course outlines, Dean's Advisory Committee, Dean's Council, Faculty of Humanities Development Plan, effective writing, evaluations of departments, official inauguration, editorship and publication of ARIEL, Killam Resident Fellows, International Education Council, Language Research Centre, issues of the newsletter "Gallimaufry" and "Faculty of Humanities Newsletter," annual bibliographies, and pamphlets. Fonds includes series for Philology Research Group Newsletter, Gallimaufry, Faculty of Humanities Newsletter, Annual Bibligraphy, Faculty of Humanities (Pamphlets), and Pamphlets, Language Research Centre.
