Biographical history

Evelyn Desiree Craddock, 1890-[after 1980], was born in Ontario. At the age of one and a half she moved to Fort Macleod, Alberta with her widowed mother, Cara Pennifeather Craddock, to live with her mother's uncle, Alexander McDonald, who was with the North-West Mounted Police. Her mother soon married H.J.A. Davidson, also a member of the NWMP, and the family was stationed at Lee Creek near Cardston, Stand Off, and Pincher Creek in Alberta and at Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. When Evelyn was 22 she moved to Winnipeg and worked for four years at Dr. Galloway's clinic. She then married W.V.G. Neish.

The fonds consists of reminiscences (transcribed in 1977-1978) of her life before she married, including comments on Lord and Lady Aberdeen, Sam Steele, Charcoal and Kootenai Brown; and photographs of her mother (1902), Sam Steele (1908) and a group in a carriage at the Fort Macleod NWMP barracks (1893).
