Name of creator
The Engineering Institute of Canada was established as the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers in 1887. The name was changed to the Engineering Institute of Canada in 1918. The organization's object is to enhance professionalism among Canadian engineers. A branch was established in Edmonton in about 1952 and was involved in a full program of technical meetings and social activities. The organization's name was later changed to the Canadian Society for Engineering Management.
