Name of creator
Edward Alexander Lucas, 1884-1961, was born in Alvinston, Ontario and came to Calgary, Alberta in 1886 with his father and mother, Alexander Lucas, 1852-1942, and Jane Frances Lucas, 1857-1920. Alexander served as mayor of Calgary from 1892 to 1894. The family left Calgary in 1895 and eventually settled in Vancouver where Edward worked as a lawyer. Edward and his wife Marion had five children, Michael Lucas, Frances Marion (Mussallem), Rose Marie (Perry), April Jane (Cutler), and Ursula Alice (McCance).

The fonds consists of manuscripts of Edward's memoirs of growing up in Calgary and his legal career in Vancouver, his poetry and newspaper clippings; memoirs of Alexander (ca. 1924); and photographs of early Calgary, ranching and the Lucas family in Vancouver.
