History

William Duce was born in Cardston, Alberta, in 1896. He worked as a farmer and as a clerk Duce Brothers, the family clothing store, until 1917 when he enlisted with the Royal Naval Canadian Volunteer Reserve. After training in Esquimalt, he served on H.M.C.S. Rainbow, and H.M.C.S. Niobe. Following the war, Duce returned to Cardston.
