Biographical history

In 1961, anthropology courses began being offered by the Faculty of Arts and Science. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology was formed in 1967 and Anthropology became its own department in 1973 within the Faculty of Arts and Science. In 1977, the Department of Anthropology moved to the newly formed Faculty of Social Sciences.
In 2010, the department became part of the newly created Faculty of Arts. In 2014, the Departments of Anthropology and Archaeology merged to become the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology.

Fonds consists of minutes from departmental meetings, including meetings for the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, records of departmental administration relating to the review, planning and teaching of courses and programs and the development of student awards, reports, departmental newsletters, Graduate Handbooks, etc. Fonds includes a series for Pamphlets and Newsletters.
