Biografie
The Faculty of Environmental Design (EVDS) was founded in 1971 as a non-departmental faculty housing programs in Architecture, Environmental Science and Urbanism. The intention of the faculty was to meet increasing demands on the professions, and on the natural and built environments, through an interdisciplinary approach to education, training and research. Over the succeeding four decades, the faculty evolved in response to various cultural, economic and environmental changes and program offerings attempted to address the related challenges, but it remained a non-departmentalized, graduate level faculty offering professional course-based degrees in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Planning, as well as the thesis-based research degrees Master of Environmental Design and Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Design.
Deans of the Faculty of Environmental Design: W.T. Perks,1971-1981; D.D. Detomasi, 1981-1989; R.D. Gillmor, 1989-1990 (Acting Dean); R.J.D. Page, 1990-196; R. Wardell, 1997 (Acting); M.E.M. Tyler, 1999-2003; B.R. Sinclair, 2003-2007; L. Fowlow, 2007-2009 (Interim Dean); N. Pollock-Ellwand, 2010-.
