Biographical history

George B. Cook, 1842-1925, was born in Bathhurst, New Brunswick and was married in Stratford, Ontario to Mary Ann Scott, 1851-1950, who was born in Prescott, Ontario. In 1884 George and Mary moved to Calgary where he worked on a Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) work train completing the railroad. He was also a carpenter and painter. They had six children including Mary Leila (Bishop), 1889-?, Jessie Irene (Finch), 1888-?, Elspeth Edna, 1886-?, Walter Stuart, Charles Reginald, ?-1904, Allan Bertrand "Bert", and George, ?-1877. Elspeth, 1886-[after 1978], was born in Calgary and attended Normal School in Regina, Saskatchewan. She was a teacher in Calgary and Carstairs, Alberta from 1905 to 1951. The family was active in the Baptist church and long time members of the Southern Alberta Old Timers Association.
