Fonds consists of variety of materials spanning majority of Howard Cable's professional life including: correspondence; financial materials such as budgets, payroll sheets, and account statements; royalty statements and contracts (some with riders); manuscript sketches and scores as well as published scores of works composed, co-authored, or arranged by Howard Cable including those based on Canadian folk music and those used in large-scale productions such as Canadian National Exhibition Grandstand shows and General Motors automobile shows; scripts and playlists for Canadian Broadcasting Corporation radio and television programmes as well as theatrical productions; programmes, promotional material and newsclippings related to productions or performances in which Howard Cable participated; administrative materials (e.g., meeting minutes, proposals, etc.) concerning professional associations or committees with which Howard Cable was involved; academic programmes and other materials related to courses or clinics taught by Howard Cable; some graphical materials such as technical drawings concerning stage schematics for Sea to Sea, Expo 67 and Canada Day shows in particular; photographs primarily relating to major productions with which Howard Cable was involved such as CNE Grandstand show Sea to Sea; and sound recordings of works that Howard Cable either composed or produced. MsC 300 consists of five orchestral parts/arrangements of popular songs by Howard Cable.

Fonds consists of manuscripts ranging from preliminary work and sketches to full scores. Includes orchestral, chamber, choral, vocal and operatic music. Composer's program notes for some compositions and photonegatives of some scores are present. Compositions represented include among others Lustro (a triptych comprising Divan i Shams i Tabriz, Music for the Morning of the World and Beyond the Great Gate of Light), Son of Heldenleben, Canzoni for Prisoners, Minnelieder, Sappho, Gita, Requiems for the Party Girl (from Patria II), television opera Loving, The darkly splendid earth, The falcon's trumpet, Gitanjali and Music for a Montreal solstice. Also includes programs, brochures, pamphlets, posters, publicity, reviews, articles and other newsclippings relating to R.M. Schafer and/or his work and lectures, workshops and symposia in which he participated.

Compositions include incidental music for stage, radio, television and film; works for orchestra, concert band, chamber ensembles, chorus and voice; and educational pieces for piano. Shotlists and commentaries accompany some incidental music.

Fonds consists of correspondence, contracts, newsclippings and other miscellaneous material, chiefly relating to Canadian Broadcasting Corporation music programs produced by S.I. Glick; manuscripts of CBC radio scripts of music programs produced by S.I. Glick; manuscript sketches and scores of instrumental, orchestral and vocal works; sound recordings of a variety of music including compositions by S.I. Glick; conference papers; concert programs; and awards. Fonds also includes two appendices. MsC 313 consists of 15 audiocassettes which are amateur recordings of S.I. Glick rehearsing and teaching (1994-2001) the Kol Shira Choir of Beth Tikvah Synagogue. MsC 316 consists of an audiocassette recording of a tribute to S.I. Glick broadcast on CBC Radio, April 22, 2002.
