Name of creator
C. L. “Chuck” Doerr, an engineering technician in Calgary, Alberta, had an interest in the history of the Souris Valley coal field of southeastern Saskatchewan, including the communities of Taylorton, Estevan, Bienfait, Roche Percée, Pinto, and North Portal. Gertrude Fraser of Victoria, B.C. loaned her historical photographs to him for copying.

The collection consists of copies of articles, pamphlets, maps, correspondence, a report from an oral history project including extracts of interviews, and photographs documenting life in the mining communities, working conditions in the mines, and the violent 1931 strike.
