Name of creator
The Carter-Halls-Aldinger Company Ltd. was established in Winnipeg in 1907 by W.H. Carter, F.E. Halls and A.H. Aldinger. The firm was involved in the building and engineering field and built numerous large structures across western Canada. In Calgary, Alberta it built the Hudson's Bay Company store, the Leeson and Lineham building, the Merchants Bank and the extension to the Palliser Hotel. The company built the Banff Springs Hotel in the 1920s and an extension to the Chateau Lake Louise. It also did extensive work for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) across the west. The firm reorganized in 1944 and became Commonwealth Construction Company Ltd. In 1955 a consortium of English construction firms took control.
