Biographical history

James Carol Johnson, 1907-1951, was born in Barnwell, Alberta. Beth McMullin, 1908- , was born near Taber. They were both members of Mormon immigrant families from the USA. They became friends while attending high school in Barnwell. Carol studied agriculture in Raymond, and spent two years as a Mormon missionary. Beth attended Calgary Normal School, then returned to teach school in the Taber area. They were married in 1931, and had five children, Minerva Carolynne, 1932- , Shirley Mae, 1934- , Dan Corlis, 1936- , Joyce Cynthia, 1937- , and Rodney Ellis, 1943- . They farmed on the Johnson family homestead, and Carol also worked as an agriculturalist for the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA). Carol died of tuberculosis in Calgary in 1951.
