Name of creator
The Canadian Percheron Association was created in 1907 at the instigation of George Lane. The objectives of the association are to record the breeding and origin of Percheron horses, publish data related to this, establish standards of breeding, and assist and supervise breeders. The head office has been in Calgary except for 1927-1942 when it was moved to Brandon, Manitoba. Instrumental in the continued success of the association was Hardy E. Salter, 1895-1969, who was secretary-treasurer from 1943 until his retirement in 1965. He also served as secretary of the Alberta Percheron Club from its formation in 1929 until ca. 1967.
