The organizing meeting for the Calgary, Alberta chapter of the Canadian Micrographic Society was held in April 1970. Bill Fleming, a major catalyst in the chapter's formation, was the first president. The society's objectives included: to encourage discussion, research and technological development of micrography (microfilms, fiche, etc.); to disseminate information on micrography including to the consumer; to promote the establishment and maintenance of standards and specifications for micrography; to improve the methods of manufacturing and marketing and cultivate good business ethics in the micrography field; and to affiliate with organizations of similar scope and purpose. The society's name was changed to Canadian Information and Image Management in the mid-1980s.

Includes membership lists (1979-1980), membership applications and correspondence (1980-1981), proceedings and registration of CMS conference in Calgary (1978), newsletters, photographs of members and events, and miscellany. Includes interviews with Harold Ashley and Tom Kirkham about the history of CMS (1980, 1982).
