Administrative history

The Calgary Gladiolus Society of Calgary, Alberta was founded in 1932 by five enthusiastic gladiolus growers. In its first five years membership grew to 80 gardeners. The society held an annual show in early September, and also had a large section in the Calgary Horticultural Society's annual exhibition. In 1968, Dick Powys-Lybbe, one of the major promoters of the society, died. Membership declined during the following years, and CGS folded in the early 1970s.
