Administrative history
The Calgary Dahlia Society was organized in Calgary, Alberta in 1921 by 15 dahlia enthusiasts. Its objects are to promote the growing of dahlias, to acquire and test new varieties, and to hold annual exhibitions. The society was dormant from 1935 to 1940, but bloomed anew in 1941, at which time it began to hold its annual shows in affiliation with the Calgary Horticultural Society.
