The Calgary Citizens' Band was formed in 1903 with Frederick A. Bagley as the conductor. The band, which had approximately 40 members, played for a wide variety of musical concerts, parades, military events, sports days and civic events in Calgary. Beginning in 1912 the band made annual summer excursions to Banff, Alberta to perform. Bagley resigned in late 1920 and was replaced as conductor by W.W. Piper.
