History
Vera Swanson was the daughter of Archdeacon Cecil Swanson and his wife Enid. Vera was born in Dawson City, Yukon, where her father was an Anglican missionary. The family lived in various places in British Columbia and Alberta before settling in Calgary. Vera married Chester Burns in 1944. She worked in the Canadian Pacific Railway Ogden Shops during the Second World War and in the 1950s joined the Glenbow Foundation. Later Vera worked at Heritage Park as an historian. She had one daughter, Carol Kittleson.
