        History

The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) was established in the USA in 1907 and has been active in Canada since 1910. The Calgary, Alberta chapter was established in 1959 with the following objects: to create, maintain and develop cooperation among the owners and managers of office buildings; to facilitate the interchange of ideas in the conception, construction, management, operation, and maintenance of buildings; and to promote the general welfare of the industry and community. The Association holds monthly meetings to discuss problems and issues related to the management of high-rise buildings and holds social events for its members. One project in which the Calgary chapter was involved from 1975 to 1977 was the design and mounting of historical plaques on heritage buildings.
