Biographical history
The Bridgehead Trading - Calgary Association of Calgary, Alberta was incorporated in 1985 and was struck from the Companies Register in 1991. Its purpose was to function as the Calgary outlet for Bridgehead, Inc., a national company established in 1981 which became a subsidiary of OXFAM-Canada in 1985. Bridgehead, Inc. operated as a business with a policy of returning profits to third world producers' cooperatives. It marketed Tanzanian and Nicaraguan coffee, tea from Sri Lanka, cashews from Mozambique, and vanilla beans from Madagascar. Paul Gingras was the chair of Bridgehead Trading - Calgary Association in 1989.
