Biographical history
The Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta was established in 1920 through an act of the Alberta legislature (the Engineering, Geological and Geophysical Professions Act) as a self-governing professional association. The Association awards the designations P.Eng, P.Geol and P.Geoph once assured that the legal, academic and experience requirements to practice have been met. The association has ongoing relationships with other like associations, educational institutions, industries and governments to ensure that the impact of the professions is understood by the public. It operates through ten branches throughout the province. APEGGA services are designed to enhance the professional and personal development of its members through life-long learning opportunities. APEGGA is also committed to educating the public about the professions, particularly through presentations to educational institutions at all levels, sponsorship of teacher award programs, science olympics competitions, math contests and regional science fairs.
