Name of creator
Arthur Hiram Stewart, 1897-1964, was born in Carleton Place, Ontario. He served in the 1st Canadian Field Ambulance in the First World War and received the Military Medal. He came to Calgary as a bank auditor in 1920 but in 1921 moved to the Bowden, Alberta district where he farmed until 1940. In the Second World War he enlisted in the 8th Field Ambulance and later transferred to the No.1 Motor Ambulance Convoy. He was awarded the MBE and after discharge entered the real estate business in Calgary. He retired in 1956. He and his wife, Kathleen, had three children, George Ryan, James McCormack and Mary Elizabeth (Stacey).
