The Alberta Women's Institute sponsored a photograph project in the mid-1970s to encourage locals to gather together photos documenting the pioneer experience throughout Alberta. Photos were contributed by locals from Delburne, Langdon, Irma, Bow Island, Innisfail, Duffield, Abee, Onoway, Grimshaw, Mannville, Red Deer, Hemaruka, Entwistle, Irvine, Walsh, Wetaskiwin, Hanna, Ribstone, Ma-me-o, Carstairs, Didsbury, Olds, Ohaton, High River, Drumheller, Westlock and Delia.
