Administrative history
At the suggestion of the Canadian Dietetic Association, the Alberta Dietetic Association was organized in 1955 with Mrs. M. Hamilton as first president. The association was incorporated as the Alberta Registered Dietitians Association in 1959. The scope of the association's interests and activities have been to serve and protect the public, to promote the profession and to improve the status of the members. The association has been involved in activities such as preparing briefs and submissions regarding health care standards, developing public education programs and organizing refresher courses for dietitians. By 2003 the association had folded in favour of the College of Dietitians of Alberta.
