William Marsden was born in Westaskiwin, Alberta and became a photographer for the Alberta government. In the late 1950s he joined the Glenbow Foundation as a documentary filmmaker and shot "Okan", a film about the Blackfoot Sundance. Marsden then became an independent film producer for many years. In 1980 he became the film commissioner for Alberta. Marsden wrote his memoirs entitled "Alberta, Big Screen Country" in 2004.

Ivor S. "Ivan" Day was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and joined the Navy in World War II. He married Reta Eve Quick (1918- ) in 1943 and settled in Victoria.

Canadian Freightways was established in 1935 by Chris Mikkelsen who hauled freight from Calgary to Lethbridge. The company began interlining with US based Consolidated Freightways and was eventually taken over by that firm. Len Huyser took over as manager in 1965 and Darshan Kailly in the 1980s.
