Henry Percival Wheatley was born in Ireland on March 12, 1891. He enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Winnipeg, in 1915 and served as a Sergeant with the 101st Battalion.
Frank Wolk served in the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, Motor Transport. He worked on the building and development of the “Diefenbunker” in Carp, Ontario from 1958-1962 and was among those locked inside for two weeks during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Fred Charles Billings was born on August 3rd, 1890 in Lindsay, Ontario. A farmer by trade, Billings enlisted with the 1st Battalion Manitoba Regiment in June of 1918 and served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in France as a member of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Working Company during WWI.
Arthur McAllister was born in 1898 in Innisfail, Alberta. At the time of his enlistment with the 187th Battalion on June 12, 1916, McAllister listed his occupation as "farmer." McAllister was wounded in combat on August 25th, 1917 and died of his wounds five days later.
Albert Philip Allen was born in Sissinghurst, Kent, on January 23, 1888. After immigration to Canada Allen worked as a painter before enlisting with the Canadian Expeditionary Force on September 21, 1914 and served with the 5th battalion. Allen survived the war and eventually settled in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
Flight Sergeant Earl Payson Gartley was born on March 24, 1906 in Jacksonville, N.B. He obtained his license to teach in New Brunswick in 1924 and later taught in Alberta until he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in July 1940. F/S Payson was originally stationed at Lethbridge, Alberta and later at RCAF Station Tofino (B.C.). On November 14, 1944, he was a crew member of a Canso flying boat that went missing on a routine patrol. After an extensive search, he was presumed dead. In the summer of 1946, wreckage from this aircraft was discovered at Ketchikan, Alaska. He was survived by his widow Carolyne, nee Bowman, and their two children.
Jack Griffin was a soldier in the Canadian army during WWII, serving as a member of Support Company in the 4th Canadian Armoured Division. Following training, he served at least some of his time in Belgium.
John Ian Banks was born on March 9, 1916. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in 1943, serving first with the Royal Canadian Medical Corps and then with the Armoured Corps. Post-WW II, he worked with Cadets in Calgary, including gunnery at Camp Sarcee, and also at the Cadet Camp in Vernon, B.C. He was an active member of the Mewata Armoury Mess, Calgary. He died on June 11, 2004.
James Proven was born in Linlithgow, Scotland on October 12th, 1890. After immigration to Canada he settled in Alberta and worked as a bank clerk before enlisting with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in November of 1914. Proven served with the 31st Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Alberta Regiment). Died on April 15, 1916 from wounds received during actions at St. Eloi on April 6th.
Lionel Corlett was born in Lancashire, England on October 9th, 1878. He emigrated to Canada and settled in the Edmonton region of Alberta, working as a freight clerk. He enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in June of 1915 and served with the 9th Canadian Railway Troops.
